About Me!

If you found your way here I'm guessing you want to know a little more about who I am and what I'm doing here.

Well my name is Jessica and I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have struggled with my weight (like so many before me) for as long as I can remember, but didn't really gain seriously until I was pregnant with my daughter in 2005/2006. After her birth I suffered from serious post partum depression and instead of losing weight while breast-feeding, I gained weight. This and my love for all things fried and cheesy helped me reach my all time highest weight of 287 pounds.

Just saying that number makes me feel a little woozy. For the last two years I have messed around with losing weight - a few pounds here and there - only to gain it all back every time. In April of this year I decided to get serious and I started this blog. Since blogging I have gone from somewhere in the 270s (can't remember exactly how much I weighed at the beginning) to 251 pounds. After struggling to get out of the 260's I switched to a vegan diet and instantly broke my plateau.

Am I the world's best vegan? No. I would be lying if I claimed to be that - but I am becoming more and more educated about food and how nutrition affects both our physical and mental health. I'm constantly searching for more information so that I can be as well-informed as possible. I'm happy to talk to anyone about vegetarian eating and cooking, but I'm definitely not going to judge you if you choose to not live that lifestyle. I will talk about the benefits of a plant based diet - but promise not to preach to you.
